1 John 2:15-17 - The world and its desires pass away

May 16, 2008 / by Sterblog

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

It is important for us as Christians to encourage Humility and modesty in all that we do.

Tonight's Sermon was focusing on Matthew 25:31-46, It was saying that we need to look after those in need. I think it is wrong to do this just because we are told to, we need to remember what we have been given,  what we have been promised and what Jesus did for us. It is not much to ask that we share what we have with those who have not.

We must be careful with what we do, there is a need to look after others physically and spiritually but not to blow our own trumpets.

My take on the will of God is for us to:

1.Love him, he made us to worship him

2.Love Others, caring for others, especially those who really need it, many references to Widows & Orphan

3.Share the good news about Jesus.

I am not aware of anywhere in the Bible it saying we should live to excess, but I do know Ecclesiastes does state we should enjoy life. I think it is vitally important for us to ensure everyone enjoys life.
